5 BASIC COMPONENTS OF SINGING

Image
There are   5 Basic Components of Singing : 1. Pitch 2. Rhythm 3. Breath 4. Voice 5. Diction Let us take a brief look at each of these topics: 1. PITCH We all know how it feels like to listen to someone sing off-key or out of tune, especially if we are in a small confined space with nowhere else to go… This is why pitch is absolutely  essential  for great singing. DO's and DONT's for singers

Image
Below, are the do's and do not's for every singer Do's Drink frequent sips of water to keep the vocal tract well hydrated. It is recommended that you drink at least 1.5 to 2 litres of water daily. Balance your voice use throughout the day. If you have a vocally demanding day ahead, avoid talking when it is not necessary. When you are ill or tired, rest your voice, along with your body. Pay attention to how your voice is feeling. Rest your voice if your throat feels tired, dry or sore. Sing only in a comfortable pitch and loudness range for your voice. Do not sing in positions that can cause tension in your neck and head, for example throwing your head back, or jerking your neck forward. Keep your jaw open and relaxed, instead of clenching your teeth or tensing the jaw when you speak or sing. Avoid foods and drinks that can promote acid reflux and increase mucus secretions in the throat. Common problem foods include fried, oily and spicy food, full-cream dairy pr...

So for you to sing better here are few things you should do: 1. Breathing Exercises In order to be able to hold your notes and vocal lines without gasping for air by the end of the line, it is a good idea to practice breathing exercises to give yourself more control. Once you perfect this breath, move onto (still) exhaling for four seconds, then inhale nine, hold for nine, and exhale for nine seconds. Gradually, you can work up to the full “one minute breath.” Try it 2. Vocal...
